🔩 1/2" Drive Torque Angle Gauge – Hit Every Head Bolt Spec the First Time
TORQUE + ANGLE • 1/2″ DRIVE • NO BATTERIES
Stop Guessing the Angle.
Many modern engines don’t stop at torque. Head bolts, main caps and rod bolts call for torque plus an exact angle, and “about a quarter turn” isn’t a spec. This 1/2″ gauge shows you exactly when to stop, so every bolt hits factory spec the first time.
EYEBALLED • OVERSTRETCHED • REDONE
“About 90°” Isn’t a Spec.
Torque-to-yield bolts are designed to stretch by an exact angle. Your torque wrench can’t measure that, and neither can your eyes. Not in a cramped engine bay. Not on bolt #10 of 10.
❌ Turn Too Little
Uneven clamping force, and the head gasket starts to weep.
❌ Turn Too Far
The bolt stretches past its yield point and can snap in the block.
✅ Measure Every Turn
Watch the needle hit the number, then stop. Same result on every bolt.
✅ Do It Once
Even clamp load across the head, so you’re not tearing it down twice.
Do the math before you torque the head.
$1,000–$3,000
What a US shop typically charges for a head gasket job, according to J.D. Power.
Redo it yourself and you’re still buying a new gasket set and new TTY bolts, and losing another weekend. This gauge costs a fraction of that and works with the tools you already own.
360° SCALE • 2° MARKS • TWIST TO ZERO
Read It at a Glance. Zero It in Seconds.
A gauge is only as good as your ability to read it, leaning over a fender, half in the shadow of the hood.
🎯 Fine 2° Marks
Precise, repeatable stops for any angle spec.
👀 Big, Bold Numbers
Bold lines every 10° and numbers every 30°. No squinting.
🔄 Full 360° Scale
Covers big single turns like +180°, not just 90°.
⚡ Twist to Zero
Turn the housing to reset for the next bolt in one move.
2 ARM LENGTHS • THUMBSCREW LOCK
Built for Tight Engine Bays.
Hoses, harnesses, a firewall two inches away. Real engine bays don’t leave room for fussy tools.
📏 Two Arm Lengths
Flip the L-shaped arm for short or long reach.
🔒 Thumbscrew Lock
Locks the arm so the dial stays still while you turn.
🔩 Braces on Solid Metal
A cam tower, a bracket or a neighboring bolt head.
🧰 Any 1/2″ Handle
Breaker bar, ratchet or torque wrench, whatever fits the space.
💡 Pro tip: Always brace against solid metal, never a hose or wire. A firm brace means a true reading.
3 STEPS • NO BATTERIES • NO APP
Easy Enough for Your First Head Gasket Job.
Torque to Spec
Run every bolt to the first-stage torque with your torque wrench, in the sequence your manual calls for.
Brace & Zero
Fit the gauge between your bar and the socket. Rest the arm on solid metal, lock the thumbscrew, then twist the housing to zero.
Turn to the Angle
Pull in one smooth motion until the needle hits your spec. Stop. Next bolt.
💡 Tip: Re-zero before every bolt and every stage.
WILL IT WORK? • CHECK IN 10 SECONDS
Fits Your 1/2″ Tools.
1/2″ drive in, 1/2″ drive out. It drops right between the torque wrench, breaker bar or ratchet you already own and any 1/2″ socket. No batteries, no app, nothing else to buy.
Use it anywhere your manual says “torque + angle”:

WHY NOT JUST EYEBALL IT?
Not All Angle Methods Are Equal.
Eyeballing a quarter turn feels close enough, right up until a bolt lets go. Here’s how the usual methods stack up.
| Eyeballing | Paint-Pen Marks | This Gauge | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Measures the real angle | ✗ Pure guesswork | Roughly | ✓ 2° marks |
| Easy to read under the hood | ✗ | Hard to see | ✓ Big, bold dial |
| Same result on every bolt | ✗ | ✗ | ✓ Twist to zero, every bolt |
| Big turns (+120°, +180°) | ✗ | Messy | ✓ Full 360° scale |
| Works in tight engine bays | — | Hard to see | ✓ 2-length arm |

QUICK ANSWERS BEFORE YOU ORDER
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I really need an angle gauge?
If your service manual lists a torque value plus an angle (for example “22 ft-lb / 30 Nm + 90°”), yes. A torque wrench measures twisting force, not rotation, and that final angle is what stretches a torque-to-yield bolt to the right clamp load.
Why not just use a higher torque value?
Most of the torque you apply goes into fighting friction in the threads and under the bolt head, and that friction changes with oil, rust and thread condition. Two bolts torqued to the same number can end up with very different clamp loads. Turning a set angle after a light first-stage torque stretches every bolt by the same amount, which is why engine makers spec it.
Will it fit my torque wrench?
Yes, if it’s 1/2″ drive. The gauge has a 1/2″ square hole on top and a 1/2″ male drive underneath, so it fits between any 1/2″ torque wrench, breaker bar or ratchet and a 1/2″ socket. For 3/8″ tools, add a 3/8″-to-1/2″ adapter.
Should I turn the angle with my torque wrench or a breaker bar?
Either works. Many mechanics use a breaker bar for the angle step to keep extra load off their torque wrench.
How do I keep the arm from slipping?
Brace it against solid metal (a cam tower, bracket or neighboring bolt head), never a hose or wire, and tighten the thumbscrew before you zero the dial. If the dial moves while you turn, stop, re-brace and re-zero.
Can it handle multi-stage specs like 90° + 90°?
Yes. Follow your manual’s sequence and re-zero before each stage. The full 360° scale also covers bigger single turns, like +180°.
Does it need batteries?
No. It’s 100% mechanical, so there’s nothing to charge and nothing to die halfway through a job.
Can I reuse torque-to-yield bolts?
Usually not. TTY bolts are designed to stretch, and most manufacturers call for new ones every time. Always follow your service manual.
